I have written extensively about Aspire’s strategic plan and guiding principles in recent months, in an effort to share the vision we have for the Aspire Community and my expectations for all of us and the work we are striving to accomplish in the next several years.
It is not lost on me that leading from a person-centered perspective will be challenging.
The 2023 Mentorship Cohort is Now Accepting Applications
As we get ready to celebrate and congratulate the inaugural mentorship cohort for their graduation in November, Aspire is currently accepting applications for the 2023 Mentorship Cohort until September 28th. Apply now to become a mentor or mentee in the next class!
Nine Aspire DSPs were nominated for the 2022 MITC Hero awards. Out of the 500 total nominations, Aspire's Moses Kilongola and Perrilee Turner were selected as two of the 13 winners. Their achievements were celebrated in an MITC online program on September 15, 2022 and each received a $300 prize. Congratulations to Moses and Perrilee and all the nominees!
Self-Advocacy, A Cornerstone of Person-Centered Services
The new self-advocacy group for individuals supported by Aspire has started meeting, both online and in-person. New participants are always welcome. The group is part of Aspire's ongoing efforts to make sure that individuals have a voice in how their supports are delivered.
If you’ve been following along, iAspire, the new employee intranet is currently in production to provide a new channel for internal communication and collaboration, and to help you more easily access the information you need to do your job.
The school year at ALL Academy is off to a great start with first-day photos and big smiles as new and returning students arrived for class. Everyone is excited and looking forward to a fun and productive year.
Get the Covid Booster at Aspire's vaccination clinics! Why? More than 400 people are still dying every day from Covid. The more boosters you receive over time, the better your protection. Information is coming soon for each state's clinic -- watch for it. MD is scheduled for Oct. 4 and is offering both Covid and Flu vaccines.
Aspire lost two members of our community in August. James "Jim" Spence resided with shared living providers in New Hampshire. Sean Walsh worked in Connecticut in the facilities department as a maintenance associate. We extend our deepest sympathy to their families and friends.
Bring Your Idea to Life, Apply to the Community Giving Fund!
